Nirmala Sitharaman presented the budget for Dharwad embroidery art sarees
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has presented the Union Budget for the year 2023-2024 in Parliament.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman wearing a red saree is special on the day of budget presentation, the saree she wears will also be special. Navlagunda of Dharwad district has a special red saree with embroidery art.
Even more special is the fact that the alluring saree that Nirmala Sitharaman wore to Parliament was embroidered and specially designed by the women staff of Aarti Crafts owned by Aarti Hiremath in Narayanpur, Dharwad, Karnataka. Symbolizing love and power, this color is promoting handloom sarees.
Prahlada Joshi, who is the Union Minister and MP of the district, explained about Navlagunda embroidery art and cultural richness to Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in a program and presented some sarees as a gift on behalf of the district.
Handloom Ilakal silk sarees are embellished with traditional Dharwad embroidery. The five-meter long Ilakal saree is studded with chikkaparas and embroidered with images of Theru, Gopuram, Peacock, and Lotus.
This move of the Union Minister encouraging handloom industry and patting self-employed women on the back has made the people of Dharwad happy.
Not only this year, but every year too, Nirmala Sitharaman's saree worn on Budget Day is the talk of the town.
